Born in Québec, Canada, France Brodeur now lives in England. Fine arts graduate from Concordia University, in Montréal, Canada, she has further studied and worked with artists and printmakers from Québec, France, Scotland and England.
Exploring the interface between abstract and representational forms particularly those found in nature and the human body, her art attempts to look through surface appearances to their significance for the human viewer especially in terms of universal but deeply personal life experiences such as change and loss. She exhibits regularly with the Oxford Printmakers Co-op and in galleries and museums in several Canadian and British cities. |

I use various forms of printmaking - usually the subject dictates the type of print and I frequently mix the media e.g. linocut on a collagraph print.
Most of my work is printed using the colour viscosity inking technique where three of four colours can be rolled onto a plate and printed as one. |

I attended art college in Bristol for four years specialising in illustration where my personal tutor was Peter Reddick. Did a lot of printmaking but no wood engraving as it was not on the curriculum. Worked as a freelance illustrator. Painted murals for a Bristol bookshop and then worked as the designer at the University. Moved to Oxford in 1978 to join a specialist firm of educational book designers. Designed major series for leading UK and overseas publishers. Joined the Society of Wood Engravers and began to engrave in 1990. Exhibited in their annual touring shows and was elected to full membership in 1998. I have since exhibited in the National Print Exhibition, winning one of the engraving awards, and in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. My full time job as Managing Director of Oxford Designers & Illustrators means my engraving output each year is small, but I enjoy the luxury of following my own instincts and producing work by hand. Although my work has become increasingly abstract, I like the feeling of being part of a long tradition.

I completed a four year illustration course in London in 1975, but most of my work has been done in the last few years. I live with my family in Oxford and joined the Oxford Printmakers Co-operative in 1998, where I have rekindled my interest in etchings and printmaking and I regularly exhibit with them. I was invited to join the Oxford Art Society, a society of professional artists, in November 2001. I have shown my work at the Century Gallery, Henley; the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists; the National Print Exhibition, London, in many local venues and I display my work during Oxford Artweeks. I have recently completed a commission for the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital Trust, and am getting work ready to show at the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea in March 2009. I am a committee member of the OPC. My email address is janepeart@hotmail.com

I graduated from Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education in 1999 with a BA Hons degree in Fine Art. During the course I was able to specialise in printmaking, with etching becoming my preferred medium. I also enjoy using screenprinting techniques and use this method to apply images to my stained glass panels. The books came as a natural progression from printmaking. Since graduating I have worked as one of the two technician managers at the workshop and I am also a committee menber.

Ursula White graduated in Fine Art from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in 2000. Towards the end of her degree course printing became increasingly important in her work and has become the preferred method of producing images. These express delight in the beauty of everyday objects, transformed through colour and the unique properties of the chosen print process. Techniques include mono-print, silkscreen, etching, photo-etch and lithography.
She is exhibiting regularly with Oxford Printmakers, Bucks Open Studios and SASS, a group of artists who graduated together in 2000 and who have had sucessful exhibitions in the Stables Gallery, Orleans House, and Farnham Maltings. There have also been solo exhibitions in London and Farnham. |
